San Antonio River Walk

On our way back to Illinois from Tucson, Marilyn and I drove to San Antonio, Texas and spent a couple nights at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk. We took the obligatory 20 minute boat tour of the River Walk as soon as we got there. As you can see, San Antonio has gone to great lengths to develop a small section of the San Antonio River that cuts through the downtown area. The Riverwalk is about 15 feet below street level and is lined with shops and restaraunts on both sides of the river. We dined outside at the Acenar "Hot Mex" restaraunt the first night and at Paesanos Italian Riverwalk restaraunt the second night. We also shopped El Mercado (the market) a few blocks from the Riverwalk and ate at Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery. Then we headed home to Illinois the next day. It was a great way to break up a long trip!
