Hiking Sabino Canyon
Dave (in the orange shirt) and Rick hiked to Hutch's Pool in Sabino Canyon in the Catalina mountains north of Tucson. There were over 40 people in their hiking group from the RV Resort that day. Sabino Canyon is a popular Tucson location due to its accessibility to the city, its spectacular granite cliffs and the abundance of saguaro cactus. The vistas are stunning. The park service provides a tram that runs 3.8 miles up into the canyon. Dave and Rick walked 9.2 miles and climbed over 1200 feet in elevation during the hike. Sabino Creek was flowing through the canyons and the group had to cross the creek several time to reach the pool. Hutch's pool featuers a 12 foot high waterfall and cold, deep pool beneath. The day was beautiful, but a bit hot with a high of 84 degrees.
