Hiking the Tortolita Mountains
Dave and Rick went to Maranda, Arizona with 32 other retirees from the Voyager Resort. We parked in a parking lot at the Ritz-Carlton and hiked the Wild Burro Trail at Dove Mountain, which is in the Tortolita Mountains. The hike was originally advertised as a 1000 foot climb. But because our leader, Norma, had "options", we left the Wild Burro Trail and ended up climbing another 600 feet up the Alamo trail before we got bach to our trailhead. It was a beautiful day with a high of about 62 degrees by the time we got back. All told, we walked 7.2 miles and climbed over 1600 of elevation. What a great day! Now it's time for the hot tub.
